All About Puppies

  1. When was my puppy born/ready to go home?

Your puppy’s date of birth and when they are ready to go will be posted on the top of their litter photos in the availability page.

  1. How much will my puppy weigh as an adult?

Our estimates on adult weight is based on this calculation that is used commonly in the Shih Tzu world by many experienced breeders:  For a good guess at adult weight:

Take the exact weight at 8 weeks and multiply by 3.

Take the exact weight at 10 weeks and multiply by 2 then add 1pound.

Take the exact weight at 12 weeks and multiply by 2.

There is never any guarantee on adult weight size as nature has the final say. This calculation is given only as a guide. Parent’s size, grandparent’s size and a million other things can influence final adult size.

  1. Which puppies are available?

All puppies are available unless “ADOPTED” is written under their photos. Some puppies may have “ON HOLD”, but that means someone is sending a deposit. Don’t get discouraged. This isn’t final and they may change their mind. Just keep an eye out and you never know, they may turn up “AVAILABLE” once more. If you have a certain puppy in mind, please include the name under their photo when contacting me to prevent the confusion.

  1. How much are your puppies?

Prices are always written besides the puppy’s photo, along with other information. Puppy pricing depends on color, markings, and size. Our puppy prices start at $1,000.

  1. I saw puppies on Craigslist for $200. Why are yours so much more?

For one simple reason: quality. Money means nothing when it’s put to make a breed better, and if it brings beautiful, healthy puppies. We have spent so much money on our beloved pets just to bring the lines we have, so prices are placed accordingly.

  1. Can I pick out my puppy in person?

As long as the puppies are 6 weeks old, you can pick him/her out in person. If not, you can only see the photos/videos that are posted. This is because the puppies haven’t been given their first vaccination against Distemper/Parainfluenza/Parvo virus before 6 weeks of age. This is ultimately for their health and our future pup’s health. Please keep in mind that if you wait until a specific puppy reaches 6 weeks just to see them and decide if you’d like him/her, the puppy may not be available anymore.

  1. Can my puppy go home with me before the posted date?

No, all puppies leave once they are 8 weeks of age and older no matter if it’s one day or one week shy of this age.

  1. What do your puppies come with?

Our Shih Tzu come with AKC registration (breeding rights are available at an additional charge to approved in-home breeders only, a 1 year genetic guarantee, age appropriate vaccinations/dewormings, microchipped, dewclaws removed, a cd full of photos from their stay with me, a baggy of toys, a puppy starter kit as well as a spay/neuter contract if sold with limited AKC.

  1. What does AKC limited registration mean?

AKC limited registration is given out to all puppies, unless otherwise stated. Your puppy is still registered with the AKC; however you cannot use him/her for breeding/showing. If you want your puppy as a pet only, limited registration is perfect for your family. If you plan on using the puppy for breeding or to show in the future, we do offer full AKC registration at an additional cost.

10. Can I see pictures/pedigrees of the parents?

Photos of the parents are posted on the sire/dam’s page along with the top of the litter’s page. Pedigrees can be sent upon request.

11. Do you have a waiting list?

Yes, we do. We accept deposits (that go towards the puppy price) to be on our waiting list. Those with deposits will get first pick on puppies born in our upcoming litters over those who do not have deposits placed and will have five days to pick their puppy. After that time, anyone left on the waiting list may pick. Please note that deposits are non-refundable, but can be placed on another upcoming litter and used then.

Payment and Shipping

  1. What forms of payment do you take?

I take Pay Pal (please add 3.5% for Pay Pal fees), USPS money orders, cash and money grams (Wal Mart only).

  1. If I place a holding fee on a puppy and change my mind, can I have the money back?

No, holding fees are non-refundable and because of this, please make sure that when you place a holding fee that you are certain of the commitment you are taking on. If you still decide against the resulting litter, it can be transferred to another litter and used then.

  1. Do you take payment plans?

We do allow payment plans occasionally, but please note all puppies must be paid in full before they can leave my home.

  1. Do you ship/deliver puppies?

We do offer shipping by air which is estimated at $350 which includes the carrier, health certificate and the flight ticket. This is an estimate and I will have to look into the flights before I give you the actual price. Pet nannies can be used, but price depends on what they set. I am not in charge of the cost for that service.  Drop off delivery is possible for an additional fee. I only drive up to a 4 hour radius.

  1. Do you have a contract?

Yes, and it can be sent upon request.
